Terminus: The Old Lenny's

Baby Doll Ghost
October 13th, 2007
~Rob M.

Should you ever find yourself standing in front of the old Lenny's (or Dotti's for you old-old schoolers), look up and you'll see a one armed Baby Doll Ghost looking back down at you from the roof. The aborted spectre of all those one night stands floats silently above the dead club, where the echos of all those blitzkreig punk bands and off key karoke seranades still cling to the wall along with the nicotine stink. All those drug deals, hook ups, break ups, drunken confessions, pool games, bad jokes, fist fights are still there. Frozen Recordings of another Atlanta, of another scene ... of another us really.

Perched on the rooftop, the Baby Doll Ghost watches the Fuck Up Parade march nightly down MLK: The rag shrouded men pushing shopping carts that house an entire junk yard city, the Utterers speaking to the CIA JESUS that eavesdrops on them telepathic, the Catastrophe Vampires, the Dead Walkers, the Working Broken and the Nowhere-To-Be's.

That much hasn't changed.

Lenny's back then was like having a bar on the edge of Perdition. A white trash gutter punk oasis that sat in the middle of the Murder Ghetto. While inside we finger banged our own egos between sips and hits and shots and barks, outside the World was howling for our blood. A place to hang our sins like hats on the coatracks of our home away from homelessness.

Alright, that's the last one from this set i'll post here. Once again, if you're bored and got nothing else to do check 'em out at here. Got tomorrow off. Going to see a friend in trouble, maybe karoke, probably write. See y'all Wednesday.

Oh and FYI, I can't access myspace from work anymore (some of you only contact me there for your own reasons). So drop me a line here or ghostkiss72@yahoo.com

I miss Lenny's. I refuse to go to the new one.

I'd kill to go to scareoke.

A shame, I actually enjoy the new Lenny's Trashed Fridays, they play a decent mix of proto-punk, power pop and Brit 80's and theres no cover. I also dig the culture clash ranging from college goofballs to local street walk-ins to the hardcore punks. The last time I went there was a fleet of Vespa's parked outside (I just love shit like that... makes me feel like i'm in Quadraphenia(sp?)

I didn't make it to scare-oke Monday (long story) but I might see if I can budget it in next week (figure any Karoke night before Halloween is gonna be fun).

Mmmmm, Quadrephenia. Stop talking dirty. After I regain my car, I may be persuaded to come to new Lenny's. (Perhaps with the proper escort? Strictly platonic since I think you are still a marked man.)

Star Bar was vaguely dead this week. I wouldn't mind going next week but I am so dead broke and without a car for now. Not to mention I have a show to plan for Halloween. Please tell me you can come to that? I'd love to have my own muse there. ;-)

Where's your show going to be?

[identity profile] jackbabalon23.livejournal.com 2007-10-24 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be there then, since you asked:)

I am convinced that all old baby dolls are haunted by the spirits of dead children. Don't get too close!

I can only imagine the poor schmuck walking off his buzz down Boulevard, will look up and believe that there is a ghost embryo watching him with all the glee of a malacious vulture.

I try not too, ma'am but its my job to photograph all the ghosts, tulpas, psychic vampires, graffiti golems and other high weirdness that will soon become extinct as the next wave of gentrification wipes out any sense of our cities inherent mythological geography.(Phew... that was one of my toughest run on sentences yet!)

Why do you require me to open my dictionary?
