Few people are actually aware that Little Orphan Annie creator, Harold Gray, based the character of Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks on the nefarious occultist Aleister Crowley. Early Annie adventures included such notable tales as "Little Orphan Annie at the Abbey of Thelema" as well as the seminal adventure, "Little Orphan Annie versus the screaming horrors of Chronozon!". The most controversial story however, "Little Orphan Annie's tantric adventure with Punjab" was pulled out of circulation by eagle eyed editors before they ever saw print thus sparing fans of the lovable little orphan with the can-do-attitude one of her most disturbing serials yet.
However it was collected later and reprinted as a Tijuana Bible.
After his death in 1947, Aleister Crowley moved on to a secluded astral plane located in the suburbs of the sephira Geburah. The second half of the twentieth century acting as spiritual guru to celebrities such as L.Ron Hubbard, Jimmy Page, Marilyn Manson, Robert Anton Wilson and most notably Gil Gerard aka TV's Buck Rogers. Crowley has also been telepathically manipulating his followers into speeding up the 'Manifestation of the Third Aeon of Horus'. The results of which include the creation of Role Playing Games, Cinemax after Dark, Heavy Metal, the legalisation of gay marriage in Boston and the term 'Rockin' Out!'.
It remains at this time unclear, whether the rumor that Carl Barks based Scrooge McDuck on Golden Dawn founding member Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers is true or not. Thelemic scholars continue to debate the issue at lodges across the world and have even split off to form their own churches based on the belief that McDuck and MacGregor are in fact one in the same. Noted O.T.O splinter group, the Golden Duck being the most prominent advocates of this belief.
Harold Gray is presumed to be dead. He was, at the time of this writing, unavailable to provide a comment to confirm or deny said presumption.
