SMOG is a range of 1/35 models of exquistely sculpted Victorian steampunk adventurers and sinister cutlists whose ranks include gas masked ne'er do wells, a gentleman gorilla and hideous crocodile monsters that dwell the London sewers. They're made by a french company called Smart Max who pride themselves in providing the perfect marriage of quality story telling and reknowned craftsmenship.

Here's a few of my personal favorites from the 'Smogaverse' -

Lord Crowley - Persecuted by the Inquisition until the England denied catholicism, the Crowleys are fierce and cruel, expanding their power through terror. Worthy descendant of a cursed lineage, the present Lord is a man of his time : he has sworn allegiance to the Dark Pharaoh pretending this was a Ministry. Thanks to this legal stratagem, Lord Crowley has been able to mislead an unknown numbers of nobleborn, extending the influence and power of the Cult.

Jeremiah Crow - Jeremiah digs and does it well. His masters, the Necromancers of London, agree to say he has the best shovel stroke. Sharp-eyed, he has an unmatched talent to spot a fresh grave at the darkest hour of the night and, protected from putrescent miasmas by his gazmask, unearth its defunct dweller. Faithful servant of the Cult, he is always on his guard against freaks from the Pit. Those twisted prowlers of London's most deserted corners can give him more trouble than his regular 'customers'.

Professor Sawbone - Like his faithful friend Livingstone, Lord Sawbone is a great explorer and a distinguished member of the Club. He has chosen not to let to Necromancers of the Cult the privilege of using wizardry. His peregrinations all over Dark Africa led him to make the acquaintance of a most unusual member of the primate order in the person of 'Mister Honk'. On the Forbidden Plateau of Bandiagara, Lord Sawbone mastered the art of magical masks that enemies of the Club have already learned to fear.

I think I have found the perfect costume for next year's Dragon*Con in 'Professor Sawbone' (economy permitting of course). Outside of the mask, the outfit should be really easy to put together and shouldn't be too terrible a strain on my future budget.

As for purchasing the models themselves - well unfortunately assembly and painting are required and the brush is a poor weapon in these clumsy fingers of mine (though they can play the drums on the keyboard like a mother-fucker when the muse is singing). Still they're fun to look at for now and who knows, perhaps they'll come out with a SMOG RPG in the future?
