Come to think of it though, I'm kind of surprised no ones thought to do a 'grown-up' version of Scooby Doo on Adult Swim. Something located on the pop culture radar between Zombie Land and Supernatural. Maybe make the 'Scooby Gang' a group of post Gen X slackers and embrace the stereotypes the original cartoon only flirted with (insert sexual orientation and drug references here) then place the 'gang' in some kind of post-occultpocalypse landscape filled with all kinds of 'scary monsters and super freaks'. Who knows... maybe the one case those 'meddling kids' didn't solve involved a Lovecraftian death cult who managed to summon something terrible through the Necronomicon. Now the gang drive around in their pimped out Mystery Machine, kicking ghoul ass and looking for the lost Necronomicon which might or might not hold the key to undoing the damage they've wrought.
Just a thought really, can't imagine Adult Swim or Hanna Barbara going for it but it's a fun idea in my own humble estimation.
The picture also reminds me of my first girlfriend here in Terminus, who was a dead ringer for Velma - (oh how she hated that comparison) - right down to the freckles and Ira Glass spectacles she blinked disapprovingly at me through. We had one of those crazy tweenage love/hate relationships where we couldn't stand each other outside of bed. However to be fair, she was the first woman I dated to tell me I had the potential to be a decent writer - if only I could lay off the 'Scooby Snacks' a bit.
Alright, enough slacking, back to work... after all I've only two weeks before my novel's debut.
