A brief thought
Oct. 15th, 2010 11:25 amI was thinking about the recent Supreme Court decision that ruled in favor of allowing vociferous fundamentalist zealots (i.e. Assholes) to protest at military funerals under grounds that such deplorable behavior is protected under the 1st Amendment. I reluctantly agree with the decision... but why not restrict these protesters to 'Free Speech Zones' like the ones they used for people protesting President Bush or the Iraq War from a few years back? Give the Westboro folks a tiny space of land in some lot, preferably a couple of miles away from the actual funeral, where they can yell, holler and bellow their hate filled rhetoric to their heart's content?
If such an Orwellian interpretation of the Bill of Rights is allowable for the so called 'radical left', then why not apply the same solution to the radical right?
