An exhausting day of working out in the sun on this balmy late October Wednesday. Yard hustle. Climb roofs. Cut grass. Yank roots. Blow leaves (while pretending its a flame-thrower). Cut tree limbs. Lift heavy objects. Haul trash. Bust ass. Worked up a real sweat and a vicious thirst. And right now I feel... satisfied. The labor does for my body what writing does for my brain. A feeling of contented fatigue. Good money too. The only problem is it's only once every ten days. Anyway, yeah, I'll spare you the rest of my working-class hero bullshit. But as much as I hope to hear back about yesterday's interview, I really hope that one day soon I can find steady work doing what I did today. It's not glamorous or ambitious, but leaves me with what the Man in Black called a 'satisfied mind'. Alright, time for some comic book goodness before I pass out.

Tonight I rambled down to the 5 Spot with my buddy to catch the Villain Family. Great show. The band had this real rockabilly Appalachian gypsy jamboree vibe. Steel pedal. Stand-up bass. Banjo. Orgasmic wailing and angelic purring. The other two bands were pretty cool too. Powerkompany had this backwoods Cocteau Twins sound while Balthrop Alabama rocked a magnificent brass section. Much drinking and dancing ensued. Now I have a hankering to hear a bluegrass cover of Iggy Pop's 'Passenger'.
