Scenes from my Real Life
May. 29th, 2013 03:05 amOperation Reload tonight was a parking lot affair but a successful one. The Contact rolled in and out of my night in a big rumbling pick up truck. Busy, busy, busy, the life of a Contact in the age of the New Inquisition. Still, the drop off came just in time. I felt a little jammed on the book and focused on a 'Shame' piece for next Monday's Naked City. Knocked out three pages before the Contact arrived. Later, after a brief consultation with the Spirit of the Pipe, I realized that the shame piece is about 250 words too long and I was in no head space to edit.
Which was the exact moment I knew exactly how to work the scene I had struggled on with the book earlier in the evening.
3 am now and I better turn in. If I'm smart I'll delete everything and start over again in the morning. But while I got clever in spades, smart is a little above my pay grade.
Well, nothing to do now but drift off to some This American Life and try again tomorrow.
