Scenes from my Real Life:
Feb. 16th, 2014 03:10 amBummed I couldn't make it to Vampire Country for the big concert tonight. Unfortunately I got a deductible to pay for the crash from the accident from the ice-storm before last and mom's birthday next Wednesday. Not only that but I've lost three days of work to the storm, one to drive mom to the optometrist and another for the meeting with the audio book company so the lean times will be steady for a while.
However what I have had is time and time is the field in which novels are harvested if spent well.
Tonight I punched a hole in my chest and pounded out on a page only to inevitably have some editor most likely red-line the result. Still it felt good. That zone. You all have it one way or another, the way you hold a brush or a rifle or a child, and do so with a perfect love that knows no doubt.
The money will flow again so long as I'm not snowed out of work. The deductible, though steep on a part time check, is not untenable and the damage (given what I saw go down to other commuters that day) could have been tragically worse. Soon enough I can go out. I can patron those voices audacious and macabre here in Terminus. I can drink again and hopefully soon, dance.
But hitting the words that way the right music can hit the body... that doesn't come nearly as often as we think it does.
Having that even for just a few hours buys what no pay check ever can.
