In a Police State of Mind I guess
Aug. 13th, 2014 10:14 pmI've been watching the news out of Ferguson, MO tonight. The most disturbing image I caught has to be that of a cop dressed like he's doing a tour of duty in Afghanistan, sitting on top of some sort of APC/Tank with a machine gun trained on a crowd of protesters (and not raised in the air, because as even you right wingers on here know, you don't point a gun at anyone unless you intend to use it). Again these are not rioters. These are not enemies of the state or an invading army. But what appears to be a group of upset citizens engaging in one of those public gatherings that as far as I know are covered under the 1st Amendment. Now I know I have a few cop apologists on here ("They're not all bad" and no one is saying otherwise) but it seems like to me that when the police look no different than the armies we send to war then I have to wonder who's really being protected and who's truly being served.
