I want a third pill!

"Mmmmm... that's good Frop!"
"For there are no Gods but Man"-Aleister Crowley. That sure doesn't stop you from communing with them. You are the Thelemite, committed to the Western occult tradition of Spare, the Golden Dawn, Crowley etc. Though you lead a life of elaborate ritual, you realize that truth and falsehood in this ritual are irrelevant distinctions: the only thing that matters is what works. Now if you just loosen up a bit, you could cross the Chasm of Choronzon. Thinkers you may agree with: Osman Spare, Aleister Crowley, Robert Anton Wilson Thinkers that may challenge you: Phil Hine, Peter Carroll

Honestly, I don't know if I really want to "cross the Chasm of Choronzon"... I do some of my best work here in the abyss of hallucinations (or the 'Society of the Spectacle' for all you Situationists out there).
I'm reminded of something Slavoj Zizek says about the red pill/blue pill dichotomy Morpheus offers Neo in the beginning off The Matrix (this is from the wonderful documentary, The Pervert's Guide To Cinema):
"But the choice between the blue and the red pill is not really a choice between illusion and reality. Of course Matrix is a machine for fictions, but these are fictions which already structure our reality: if you take away from our reality the symbolic fictions that regulate it, you lose reality itself
I want a third pill.
So what is the third pill? Definitely not some kind of transcendental pill which enables a fake fast-food religious experience, but a pill that would enable me to perceive not the reality behind the illusion... but the reality in illusion itself."
Funny thing is i've been reading a lot of Carroll and Hines this week, so I guess i've felt some kind of subconscious urge to be 'challenged'.
All in all not a bad test, kinda fun actually.

on 2007-09-21 05:13 pm (UTC)Your Score: The Taoist
You scored 30 Materialism and 60 Phenomenology!
The Way is flux. The Way is order. The Way is Chaos. And if you do it right, the Way is you. You have a good balance of the material and phenomenological realms in your personal experiences, and see reality as a holistic set of interlocking systems, constantly changing, constantly supporting or resting on one another. The Tao (and the Buddhist sect it inspired, Zen) isn't about getting on with it, it's about realizing there's no it to get on with. Thinkers you may agree with: Lao-tzu (duh) Thinkers that may challenge you: One is all.

on 2007-09-21 07:02 pm (UTC)Seriously though, not sure what would happen if he took both. Would that be the coveted third pill of Zizek? Or would Neo's head just explode (literally not in the 'Whoah' tense).
