I'm only half way through the Black Dossier but so far... a smart and sexy (not Lost Girls sexy though)romp across the post-Orwellian Britain of the 50's! I still wish the 'classic' team from the first two series had a few more adventures before snuffing it in the second volume, but so far... so good!

Saw No Country For Old Men this weekend which was absolutely amazing. Easily the Cohen Brother's best work since "O'Brother" and obviously meant to reel in some of their old "Fargo" fans (of which i'm not... love most everything else they did but "Fargo" just annoyed me for some reason... sorry). With it's crisp dialouge establishing characters with a terse ease, the exquisite cinematography, some surprisingly kick-ass action scenes (yes... with even the prerequisite car explosion thrown in for good measure... but don't turn your nose up yet Mr and Mrs Miramax) and some truly, truly wonderful performances from a cast that is decidely not the Cohen Brothers usual suspects( there should be an Oscar for Villain of the Year... just for this movie) this is a movie for adults. Adults who don't mistake maudlin narratives about the ennui of everyday life as the final word in cinematic experience. But a movie that lets you laugh, think, wince and best of all discuss ferverently hours, days after you've seen it!

Along with this years remake of 3:10 to Yuma the magnificetnly brooding genre that I call "Western Noir" continues its come back across the American imagination.

Now i'll leave you with my favorite photo of the day:

Jayne Mansfield et Sophia Loren au Romanoff's à Beverly Hills en 1958

That look Sophia is shooting Jayne is just fucking priceless!!!

This, to me, is the human translation of that look your cat gives the dog when you bring him/her home from the pound and into the house for the first time.

Oh yes. It was a screen-saver of mine years back.
I love the classic movie starlets, and caught in a compromising photo is even better.

oh my god... I love Sophia Loren all over today with this pic... that is so so so the look that my Loverly Partner in Crime or I (or, more likely both) would dart at someone disapprovingly, isn't it??? heeheehee...

I wanna see the movie!

Thanks for last night... we must get back on a more regular schedule! I miss you too much when we go for any length of time without you making me laugh in person!

xxx

It is a look that just hisses a velvet-y "BITCH" through that tight smile.

You should, it's great!

You're welcome... we can give it a try. You're the socialite with the busy-busy schedule.
