Fear & Loathing in Doraville: Epilogue

Hungover.
Too much Jack & Adrenalin left in the blood to stay asleep last night. Got to work before dawn. Dry facts of bills and the smooth feel of the keyboards on my fingertips. Tongue tastes like cold coffee poured into an ashtray. Mud brain with slow turtles of thought crawling out of the memory ooze. Paper cut images. Sharp sudden slices of last night cut across me when I rub the strain out of my eyes: Bullhorns, confetti, balloons, toy guns, whiskey, fireworks, prose poetry puns, typewriter, strange hats, chain smoking, face swarm, red lights, microphone, scattered books, laughter, kisses and the strange rush of reading up there on the small stage, simultaneously one of the most frightening and empowering experiences of my life.
But right now I need protein & serotonin.
Back to reality.

on 2005-04-04 07:31 pm (UTC)LOVED the show last night. Sorry we didn't stay for the final act, but Bonnie had planned dinner and was worried about time. Pretty much all the readings rocked. I'd read Fear & Loathing, a few random Hunter writings and a whole lot of his ESPN2 stuff, but I'd never really thought that much about the possibilities of his work as performance pieces/spoken word. Great job.
Also, sorry if I wasn't real sociable and talkative when we first arrived. We'd lost track of time and just finished a mad, Fear & Loathing-esque drive to the airport to pick up parker and drive breakneck back to Push Push, thinking we were late. So my nerves were a tad frazzled and in need of whiskey. But that was soon taken care of.

glad you guys showed. Seeing Bonnie & Parker was cool as well. It's good to have a little morale support from the hometeam.
