Eyes strain over blurred typed words. Train wrecks of sentences smashed into each other, I make out one word out of the mess. "Patellectomy". The excision of the Patella. Go back a page. Not where the carcases sail down an assembly line river. Anywhere but here. You go down here and it's cheaper for the Job to finish the job. An electric shock to the temple. Throat slit mechanically by a bored butcher. Another slab for the grind. Hooks pierce and catch under the Scapula. Lift and float down to where the knive machines chew chatter blindly. Clanging chomps of iron teeth waiting to accept the Hamburger eucharist. Hose off the spot you crashed. Amonia splashes against the steel plating. Time card punched. Name crossed off. Your last paycheck sent out automatically. Docked the exact minutes from the moment of your death. The last act of exsistence sitting unread in a plain white envelope. Click off the screen. Rub the pollen sting out of your eyes. Rub the soreness out of your wrists. Strong coffee soothing the throat. I close my eyes. I leash my breaths with a slow rhythmic count. Brief burst of no thought calm. Open your eyes. Open up the books. Open up the laws. Match the precedents. Find the history. Remove the errors with little excisions of the keyboard. Remove the illegal charges. Strip it down and snip off the cancer codes. Clean it up and ship it out. This is what I do for a living. I put a cap on the price on pain, one bill at a time.
