So roughly six or seven years ago, my neighbor at the time, he-who-is-known-as-the-Magpie or aka The Littlest Lothario, dragged me kicking and screaming into writting some material with him for a 'Grand Guignol'. Which is French for mildly disturbing horror. Later I was metastructuralizing and doing dialoge work on The Wide Open Beaver Festival- which went on to become world famous in Atlanta. So here I am, getting ready to hook up with a friend and try and hammer out yet another script. So with that in mind and tongue firmly in cheek (your cheek or mine?)I present to you...
Ten things I've learned from my friends in the theatre community
)The creative process is greatly aided by sleeping in until 4 or 5 in the afternoon. (I'm told it allows the subconscious mind to absorb valuable solar energy).
)The creative process is greatly hindered by having to engage in a paying job.
)Actors & Actresses are always hungry: Only a supplementary diet of hard liqour & nicotine seem to keep their inhuman appetite at bay!
)It's Guerilla theatre not Gorilla theatre - (Thanx [personal profile] kittenspeaks)
)Monologues & soliloquys aren't just for the stage! Use 'em at partys or drinks w/friends.
)Last one on drugs is a pussy!!!
)Behold the power of the 4th Wall!!!-whoooo-ooo-ooooo
)'Chewing the scenery' does not implie that the play is about cannibals.
)When in doubt add the prefix 'meta' to a word. Makes it all sound real PoMo and SoHo and what not.
