Aug. 22nd, 2005 09:10 pmI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I stood on the top of the hill at the peak of Eaglerock Rd. Storm clouds have gathered cutting off the last light of sunset. I grip the bars. I check my helmet. It's almost been a full year since I mounted my bike, a full year since I crashed in the dark and limped home with a broken arm that still hurts. I check her again: The chains too long, the back brake is too loose and the front is way too tight. I hit that front going down this fucker and i'll end up pavement surfing face first.
Enough! This crippled and scared bullshit ends here.
I push off with my
left foot...
