Coming Soon ..
Oct. 25th, 2006 11:00 amI miss it.
After the PS 21 Halloween costume parade, after the trick or treat guerrila raid across upstate suburbia, after the shaving cream raiding parties, after daring each other to see who could walk the furthest into the woods without chicken shitting out, after mom & dad inspected the candy for razorblades, pins & poison, after the cab ride to the Village to catch the NY Halloween parade, after all that there was the Monster Movie Marathon, the unoffical closing ritual to All Hallows Eve.
The original Night of the Living Dead on MTV. AMC playing almost every single classic Universal Monster movie back to back. The first three or four Friday the 13th on Cinemax back before it was virtually all softcore porn after dark. Thermin soundtracks whistling like the mating call of ghosts. Serial Killer echo breathing puncuated by the stab of a casio keyboard. Implausible teenage nudity. Tunnel screams from sudden victim close-ups. Mad scientists cackling during a lightning storm. Gypsy curses under the silver screen moon. Coffin playboys crawling through the crack of a young womans window. The sleepwalk shuffle of the living dead. Candy corn & chocolate induced insomnia. Black and white nightmares flickering through my imagination like a broken film reel flapping...
So for the next few days, i'm going to post the trailers to some classic (and not so classic) old school horror flicks. First up are my top-three favorites:
Night of the Living Dead (German Version)
Evil Dead
Dawn of the Dead(original)

on 2006-10-25 07:18 pm (UTC)I have a DVD of nothing but trailers to old Hammer Horror flicks. I really should lend it to you -- it's excellent with the volume down and some music playing.

on 2006-10-26 06:58 pm (UTC)Cool -- I *almost* bought that when I was looking for something to put on Marylin's TV screen at last year's party, but went with Hammer instead.
BTW, that was that DVD called that you brought over from Videodrome that time?
I'm sure we'll cross paths again in the near future -- for example, Shannon & Oz are out of town and we're making Lassanga at their house some night. Though I know everything inthe world is going on the last few days before Halloween.
