The rain comes down across my roof, a sweep of a thousand little fingers tapping. Dusty light bulbs lit and the room glows a faded yellow- the color of brittle pages in an old book. I sit in an lotus asana squat, crosslegged in front of the "Children"i.e the three decks and the mixer, my wayward electric babies, my audio altar and sanctuary. Cigarettes burning in an overfilled ashtray. Cheap merlot sitting in a blue glass waiting like a bored schoolboy to be picked up at the playground. Stacks of scattered discs form an ugly circle around me- album covers offering hints of stories through a photograph window. The tracks are loaded and I have a vague hint of the path I am going to travel. I open up with a long measured breath. I hit "Play" and pray.

45 minutes & three camels.
I might try this again with a longer cassette. I'd like to add Rachmaninov's "Isle of the Dead" or at least a good chunck of it to the beginning, another selection I was thinking of was using Legendary Pink Dots "ghosts of unborn children" and/or Death In Junes "Rocking horse night" which always sufficently creeps me out a bit. What counts is regaining my left hand to segue subtle one song to the next. I know some DJ's who thrive on the box car to box car rattle of solid beat matching. Which is great and all but I try to thrive more on the mood, so getting my busted left wing to glide gentle with the right and create a harmony of tone is essential. A different kind of therapy if you will. MusicK not music.
