"She lusted in sex orgies and reefer brawls": Well c'mon what more could you ask from a woman? But seriously... what the hell is a 'reefer brawl'?

"Mere lesbianism was old-fashioned... and torture was the order of the day"
You know I think I DJed this club before? It must've been that night I was paid in spanks.

Have you ever wondered what Grant Morrison's Birds Of Prey series might look like? Kudos to Code Name: Old Spice aka 'Admiral Stripper' there on the right... i'm not sure what's going on here but once a tatooed woman in high heels and a bikini shows up I just know my invitation to "Adventure" has arrived.
Strange Sisters: An archive of 50's-60's Lesbian Paperback Artwork.
Vintage Paperbacks & Digests: Highly recommend the 'Sleaze' and 'Drugs' section.

on 2007-06-07 03:53 pm (UTC)Not since Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice has there been a comedy of manners of this caliber. Here we see the gripping story of one young woman's search for self empowerment in a patriarchal society unable (nay unwilling) to accept her outside it's own myopic definitions of gender role and caste hegemony.
Will our protagonist yield to the temptation to lay aside her dreams of becoming an artist to settle for a life more conventional or will she fight to have the song of her heart heard despite the odds...?
