Outpost Zero: Status: Abandoned... No Survivors Found...
"What was it?" I ask Jacques who's contemplating the locked fence across the catwalk, "It looks like some kind of ... I dunno lab, maybe?"
"We can get in" he says brushing the question aside due to lack of empirical research, "All we have to do is climb over the railing and swing across the bridge"
I exchange a concerned glance with his faithful assistant.
"I don't know man..."
"What? You wanna find out what's going on in here doncha?"
I suck air through my teeth in a worried hiss. We're losing sunlight and I can just picture some Pig cruising by any moment and slapping us with a trespass charge.
Still though, I look at the giant tree growing in the center of the dirty white walls, the dirt road that stretches into a wooded area behind it, the long dead lighting system... the gated bridge? What was this place?

on 2007-06-14 05:11 pm (UTC)Awsome, glad you finally got to check the place out some -- and you should totally return for some further exploration. Its quite unsettling on the inside, full of signs that somebody slept there the night before and will never do so again. It's here that I found a bum-sack. I suspect the little garden at its center is home to some manner of homeless, wino Satyr.

on 2007-06-14 06:14 pm (UTC)Two areas of approach -- three if you dare venture through what appeared to be some manner of hobo woods in the rear of the place. We parked up there by the shopping center and descended down, but the people we met there for the photo shoot parked by the other entrance to the area, the one down on the same level as the ruins.
Venturing through the hobo wood seems rather undesirable, though -- kinda like the forest of suicides, except with more incoherent mumbling.

on 2007-06-14 07:15 pm (UTC)Some little brat DID throw a rock at us while we ere down there, though -- I forgot about that. And there was this one bum walking around with his cock out, PEEING as he walked, which is a skill I guess one picks up with the transient lifestyle. He left us alone -- or at least never noticed us.
Also, I saw a traveling man (the kind with, obviously, no clear destination in mind and a starting point some decades burried in the past) at the Chandler Park Market the other day -- he'd set up a well-weathered laptop on a stack of liquor boxes and appeared to be leaching off the store's wireless Internet connection. I guess that means cybperpunk is reality now. Saw that, knew I'd have to pass that on to you.
