Fandom Fall Fashions

Well as you should all know by now (unless you've been living under a rock or on dial up) there's less than two weeks to go until Dragon*Con goes down (mmmm...hold that thought) and as always the fanboy fashionistas are busy, busy, busy getting ready to unviel the latest in this years fantasy fall fashions! Tonight we're going to take a look at what fandoms finest might or might not be wearing when they walk down the Hyatt Regency this year.
What say we start with the insider buzz shall we? Word on the street is that this year Off Black is the new Jet Black, "Zombie" is the new "Pirate" and "Stardust" is the new "Rings". As always though expect lot's of mix and match especially with the Zombie, who's versatility allows a lot of cross over appeal and can spice up even the dreariest ensembles. Still got that old brown robe and lightsaber in your closet from 1999? Well just dab on a little face paint with just a hint of some latex gore there my Padwan and voila: Zombie-Jedi! Need to spice up your Pirate Booty shake from the rest of the crew? Why not add a little Tom Savini to your Captain Sparrow and enjoy the best of both worlds? And never mind all those baffling 'Civil Wars' and 'Perpetual Crisis'... after all, who hasn't been reading Marvel Zombies this year?
This years Con "DO": Flip that "ARRR" right around and drop it in some "bRRRAins"
Still if you get enough of the walking dead just by asking for directions in downtown Atlanta then there's still a lot of fabulous choices out there for the imaginative conventioneer.
For starters you can never go wrong with the basics: "Klingon Butch" or "Stormtrooper Metrosexual". These two factions have been doing more than just spreading terror across the galaxies of their respected continuities, they've also been setting the gold standard for group coordinated outfits. No surprise there, after all who doesn't love a man in uniform whether they're clone chic cool or space-biker rough trade.
Here's one spoiler alert you won't mind reading: Everyones just wild about Harry... Potter that is and the right outfit will get your muggle ass laid faster than you can say: "Myspace".
Ready to put the WOW in your WoW? "Worlds of Warcraft" is more than just legalized electronic crack... it's a chance to brush off those old Ren-Fest threads and ADD/AD&D inspired get ups of yesteryore for another round at the con. Just remember though, you're not a wood-elf there anymore Legalus-Lite, you're a Night Elf and the Drow are so 90's... get with it, don't you know Blood-Elf is the way to go?
Everyone loves a superhero team-up (especially if you can find a room) and what Con would be complete if it didn't look like a George Perez two-page spread at two in the morning? Try to be a little daring though. Two dozen rubber nippled Bat-Men is more than a parallel universe disaster waiting to happen... why it's practically the Mens Room at The Jungle! And please... the Scarlet Witch wiped out 99 percent of the mutant population... not all of them except Wolverine. There's plenty of room for all kinds of Homo-Superior this year and while you might just be "the best there is at what you do", what you "do" is most work likely work at Turner downloading free comicbooks all day. Give the Snikt-schtick a rest and try out another Xavier Institute alumni perhaps?
