They Came From Lenny's Bar!!! (part one)

Seeing the occasional zombie come shambling out of Lenny's Bar is not an unusual sight for anyone who might be familiar with the dive mecca of Decatur Street. On an average Friday night there you can easily catch one of The Living Drunk come stumbling out into the parking lot, trapped in that beer soaked purgatory that lies between Last Call and Booty Call, stumbling on down Dekalb Avenue to a fate that lurks just beyond the collective shrug of our concerns. This is nothing new of course.
However, when a small army of them gather outside the bar in broad daylight it means that either the apocalypse will be a little early this year... or that it's time for the second annual Zombie Walk to kick off the Atlanta HorrorFest!!!

I arrived at the source of the contagion a little after 12 last Saturday. I was running on five hours sleep while nursing a bitch of a post-Phobia hang over. There were already two dozen zombies from all walks of (after)life gathered in the Lenny's lot: Pompadured psychobilly zombies, PBR sipping punk zombies, atomic family friendly zombies, giggling freshman zombies, drunk before noon zombies, Romero and Juliet zombies... even a pair of zombie french puddles made it for the turn out.

"Oh zombie dog..."
The plan was simple. The zombies were to march out of the historic shopping district that Lenny's occupies, head down Dekalb Avenue, cross over to the MLK MARTA station, make their from there to Oakland Memorial Cemetary, loop through it, come out, stagger down Memorial, take a right over the Interstate and finally descend upon the Gold Dome.

on 2007-10-09 07:28 pm (UTC)Yeah and I've also never made it out to the Halloween parade in L5P. I need to make a point of hitting that this year.
