This is an old comic book ad for the Navy Sealab III Aurora Model Kit. When I came across it I immediately got the impression that Wes Anderson probably saw this as a kid and maybe had it lurking around somewhere in his collective unconscious when he made The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (a great movie often overlooked in favor of its more popular older sibling The Royal Tenebaums). It kind of reminds me of the Team Zissou Ship, The Belafonte a bit.



Now just for Shits & Giggles I would like to extend the essay question to you, the good citizens of Livejournistan, to complete this sentence: "I'd like to live for two weeks on the ocean floor because..."

My answer: "...that way my dad couldn't find me when he came home drunk from work!".
