Without a doubt, one of the most popular tourist destinations for the summer time-traveler is the New York City of the late 1970's - home to vigilante cab drivers with mohawks, baseball themed street gangs in Kabuki make-up, Luke Cage - Hero for Hire, The Ramones in their prime and possibly the best slice of pizza in the entire space-time continuum. But before you hop in your T.A.R.D.I.S to score 'Chinese Rocks' at the Chelsea Hotel with Dee-Dee and Richard Hell... here are a few tips to help make your trip to "Scorsese Country" a reasonably safe one.

Ack! That one pic reminds me of the ankle slashers! I don't know if that was just an urban legend - but I still try to glance down before getting into my car!

I remember hearing variations of the story as a kid and being thankful that I rode the train for the most part. I ran a quick check on snopes.com which basically has this to say (http://www.snopes.com/horrors/robbery/slasher.asp) about it.

Still, better safe than sorry I guess.

Ha! Well, that is good to know!

I was actually really scared about it when I was a teenager and first driving.

The ghosts at Grand Central Station CAN hear you ... they're just in too much of a hurry to answer. Besides, the ghosts below 34th Street are/were much more interesting.

Unlike the Hungry Ghosts of Alphabet City, who wait inside the trunk of your car instead of underneath it... but if you want ghosts, a night in Yonkers should do the trick:)

One night in Yonkers makes a hard man humble.

Oh gosh! I remember reading the book all these images are taken from! Some of them came to our city last year because locals were concerned about street crime, and they went away saying there wasn't anything to worry about, the city was practically a graveyard anyway....

I remember seeing a bunch of the Guardian Angel's on the F train when I'd commute with my mom back home. Speaking of NYC how was your trip? Did you find the Compleat Strategist?

Trip was nice, but it took me an extra day to get out of NYC.
Compleat Strategist was great!
Glad I went.

Cool.

Was your game well received?

Yes, but officially "no." Being a foreign national with no security clearance cripples my ability to participate personally (or at least officially)
in the War on Terror, though my ideas are apparently fair game.

...

I did have a nice trip, though getting there and back was a nightmare - see my latest blog entry.
