Jul. 29th, 2008 05:32 pmBig thunder storm just rolled in over Little Five. The Witch House is almost night time dark now with the occasional bolt of silver lightning flashing through the windows. The sound is wonderful - muffled explosions (cloud giants bowling with boulders across floating invisible mountains), the faint wail of the trains, sirens trapped in bad traffic, the neighbors kids from across the street shrieking in delight, the crackling of the trees in a sudden burst of wind, those poor terrified birds calling each other from the branches right outside, the pealing of the church bells defiantly... and soon the rain will fall across the roof in a soft cadence.
This is one of the best things about living here - despite the tropical heat of an unventilated attic or the epic battlefield my bathroom has become between the empire of large, scary spiders and the hive kingdom of mutant palmetto bugs!
