A small nibble?
Apr. 21st, 2009 12:14 pmI thought I'd share some potentially good news for once, on this, my usually-dreary-of-late online journal.
Received this yesterday via snail-mail:
"Many thanks for sharing your work with me! Discovering new writers and helping them get the recognition and the rewards they deserve is the best part of our job. At Larsen Pomada Literary Agents we love to get excited about our books and authors and we hope that you'll be one of them.
Towards that end, I'd like to read more of your work. Please follow the instructions next to the box I've checked below. If you have questions, please feel free to email me at _____."
So here's the deal: They're requesting the first 10 pages of my novel along with a 2-page plot synopsis.
It's not much, but it is the second request I've received so far for further info and a fleeting sign of hope for my humble efforts.
Unfortunately, I'm not very adept at summarizing things into a concise description (as long time readers of this blog will attest to no doubt). I've spent much of yesterday (as well as this morning) reviewing various writing sites on the subject and am about to give it a go.
And since I haven't mentioned it before - thanks for everyones patience with my whining and ranting and online-gnashing-of-teeth. I know a lot of you out there are trying to deal with their own monstrous work load of shoveling the bullshit from the driveways of their lives. To that end I appreciate you taking the time to listen to me pitch bitches about having to do my own work load.
Alright, nothing left to do now but get down to it, Boopers. This summary won't write itself and nervous or not it must be done. So in the words of the great Joe Cabot - "Thats when you gotta shit your pants, dive in and swim."
Wish me luck.

I know there's little I can say to make you feel better right now, so I'll just wish you good luck right back at you and hope my heathen prayers deliver upon you some small respite from your troubles.

on 2009-04-21 09:34 pm (UTC)BTW, it sounds a lot harder than it actually is. It's basically just divulging the major plot points and the ending.
