Jun. 9th, 2005 02:34 pmNAGAKUTE, Japan - They could hit fastballs, draw portraits and be seen breathing. Not bad for robots. Even so, these droids of all shapes and sizes —more than 60 on display at the World Expo on Thursday — still need some work.

~Waiban 2 - Who, ironically was programmed to do the "Robot"

~HRP-2 I want one of these to show up and fight the Duracell bunny!

~Takahiro Takeda, left, postgraduate student of Tohoku University, and Partner Ballroom Dance Robot (PBDR)~ Looking forward to the Partner Line Dance Robot, Partner Disco Dance Robot and the Partner Slam Dance Robot in development for next years expo!

~This humanoid robot, dubbed Repliee Q1expo, is covered in a skin-like substance and moves its mouth and shifts its torso as though it's breathing. It sits in booths to work as a tour guide for visitors at the World Expo in Nagukute, Japan.
